New Hire Onboarding Ticket Map
A practical onboarding ticket map for accounts, devices, apps, access, and the small details that usually get missed.
New hire onboarding is where small misses become loud problems. A laptop without the right charger. An account without MFA. A license nobody requested. A manager asking why the new employee cannot work yet.
A good onboarding ticket map makes the work visible before the first day arrives.
Start with identity
- Legal name, preferred name, and start date.
- Manager, department, location, and job role.
- Email account, username, and required groups.
- MFA enrollment and password setup.
Map equipment and apps
- Laptop, desktop, monitor, dock, keyboard, mouse, headset, or phone.
- Standard software bundle for the role.
- Special apps that require approval or licenses.
- VPN, printer, shared drive, and collaboration access.
Close the loop
The ticket should show what was completed, what is waiting, who approved access, and what the new hire still needs to do. That makes handoffs cleaner if someone is out or the start date changes.
Onboarding is not just setup. It is the first impression of how organized IT feels.
